Blog 8: A subject you enjoyed studying this semester

This semester I have not had many references, but I took a transversal class in Chilean cinema, I was struck by director Raúl Ruiz who, unlike other Chilean directors, was a supporter of UP but did not agree with the films that the directors of the up. which were more a pamphlet of communism than stories that intimately demonstrate what was happening in the country.

in the class we saw the movie "tres tristes tigres" a movie that tells the story of 3 characters who are immersed in a journey between bars and cantinas in the city trying to hide their misery, the film is inspired by the homonymous play written by Alejandro Sieveking, with adaptation of the script made by Ruiz himself, becoming his first feature film.

The truth was that I had never seen Chilean cinema from those years, so I was very surprised to see a movie like this understand the context of how cinema was projected as a growing industry in the country, the ideas behind the directors. the focus that Chilean cinema should take.
